6 decades of experience
at your side in difficult times
Rocamer Seguros currently has sub-agents in San Miguel de Salinas, Guardamar del Segura, Torremendo, El Mirador, San Javier, Los Alcázares and Torre Pacheco and also has insurance offices in Torrevieja, Pilar de la Horadada and San Pedro del Pinatar.
The management continuously seeks to bring new partners into the company, trying to expand Rocamer Seguros’ frontiers and market share.
In this way, Rocamer Seguros came to control just over 11% of this insurance company. This change was the biggest turning point in the company’s history. After transferring its entire portfolio of policyholders to this company, Rocamer had the income from the commission it received from its insurance portfolio and, in turn, owned 11% of the profits generated by the insurance company.
In 2004 Rocamer Seguros, together with eight other partners, acquired all the shares of Asociación Europea Compañía de Seguros. This insurance company, founded in 1954 in Madrid, was in decline, had lost practically all of its customers and its owners no longer wanted to continue working in the insurance business.
On the other hand, it is now the company that is in charge of claims, registrations, cancellations, modifications, etc. In this way, it was able to improve its service and customer care and open an office dedicated to these tasks. This collaboration lasted more than 30 years, during which Rocamer experienced a significant growth in its client portfolio, reaching a portfolio of more than two thousand seven hundred policies.
In 1982, a year after setting up Rocamer as a company, Rosendo Mercader ended his collaboration with Ocaso Seguros as a debt collector and joined Preventiva as the exclusive agent for the area in which he worked, taking all the policies he owned from Ocaso to Preventiva. This was one of the main turning points in the life of Rocamer Seguros.
However, in 1965, Rosendo Mercader Sr. died and Rosendo Mercader Jr. became, for the first time, the head of what was to become Rocamer Seguros. After his father’s death, he gave up the extra work he was doing to devote himself entirely to the marketing of death insurance.
It should also be noted that they were not only dedicated to this task, the Mercader also worked in the fields and as butchers.
During their first fourteen years as collectors for Ocaso Seguros, Rosendo father and son did a good job, doubling the insurance portfolio they collected in the area thanks to their good reputation in the aforementioned localities and above all thanks to their quality as tireless salesmen.
They were in charge of collecting the bills from the clients of this insurance company and delivering the money to their head office in Cartagena in exchange for a small commission of 6% on the amount of the bills they collected.
In 1950, Rosendo Mercader began working for Ocaso Seguros, the company that marketed death insurance in the area at the time and which had a portfolio of around three hundred policies, as a collector in the area from Sucina to San Pedro del Pinatar, together with his eldest son, Rosendo Mercader Torres, who was ten years old at the time.
